What's this? Bromance?
Don't kid yourselves, you're not athletes, they are...

Reminds me of Microsoft's IE team who used to send Mozilla a cake whenever they released a brand new version of Firefox.
I think they stopped doing it when they went to the rapid release, but I know Mozilla sent the IE team some cupcakes for their browser launches as well.

For a Camaro, it's very athletic.

Around 20 years of progress...
Even I can beat an Olympic champion if he stops and I keep going.

I'm not all that good at math, but can it be a rivalry if only one be car exists? By my count its 41 years. But nice sentiment by GM regardless

Of course all those athletes, with the exception of the Z, are extinct.

Ford should do a similar deal in a few years:
"Happy 5oth Birthday Camaro*"
*Well....42 years (1967–2002 and 2010–present)
Oh and it looks like GM will need to recall Camaro roofs, damn things catch fire.

It's a fun rivalry. This is the Ford World HQ building when GM turned 100:

What? the Mustang has been continuously in production since 1964 (and a half)

Yet is also beats this as well the only one left alive for any progress:
Calling American cars unathletic is like calling a Lamborghini subtle. Sure they don't all do corner carving like the Japanese but show me a muscle car that doesn't blow your mind with straight line speed.

Without each other the Mustang and Camaro would be utter shit (well...relatively). When companies battle, consumers win (unless you're Chiquita bananas, but that's a whole other issue)

Plus, 2/3 of those cars pictured are 3500-3700 lbs. (NSX and RX-7 being the lightweights) so if weight is your criteria to be an athlete, may need to reevaluate.

Oh and just to pile on lol.
Mustangs and Camaros alike could crush every car in this collage on any track.

True, the Mustang has. But the Camaro hasn't. It can't be a 50 year rivalry if the Camaro hasn't existed for all 50 years

It REALLY depends on which Mustang/ Camaro you're talking about. The contemporary versions would have a hard time keeping up with most of those. And the NSX started production in 1990... that means it would be up against a GT fox body and an IROC (z28? I don't know, whatever the fastest 1990 Camaro was) 3rd gen. Pretty much anywhere besides the dragstrip, the NSX wins. Handily.
Now sure, these are all much slower than a modern Boss 302 or a ZL1 or what have you. But then... they're all way cheaper and older, too.

What is this crap? This is like saying only Long Distance runners are athletes but sprinters are not. Not everyone does everything the same, and I'd equate Rafael Nadal on the same level as Lawrence Taylor or David Beckham in terms of whether they are athletes, and none of those 3 can do what the other does.

The SVX was no athlete...Nor was the 300z or the 3000gt for that matter...

20 years of progress and the only car Nissan has that can compete with it is roughly $50k more expensive and just as heavy. Herp derp.
